DY-10.jpgReunion Photos - Danny YatesSGM Wallace Moore receives applause for his portrayal of a Buffalo Soldier in period costume of the mid-1800s in the early days of Ft Sill's founding. His "story-telling" followed the retirement ceremony as part of our retirement agenda. SGM Moore has written two books about the Buffalo Soldiers.

DY-11.jpgReunion Photos - Danny YatesWe were treated to a brief demo of computer-gaming warfare with an Afghan land battle scenario. The transformation from our days of war strategy to using the latest computer tools is nothing short of amazing.

DY-12.jpgReunion Photos - Danny YatesFt Sill's warfare training includes urban-warfare based scenarios as our Instructor guides through a mock-up building. This whole training format used highly technical Hollywood-like sound stages with several technicians behind the scenes to manipulate the settings.

DY-13.jpgReunion Photos - Danny YatesGiving it the ol' "heave-ho". During our basic training orientation of new soldiers on the record hand-grenade course on Thursday morning, the "old soldiers" were invited to try their hand at it. The tennis-ball size training grenades contained a primer only and usually rolled a few feet after tossing...then you heard a "pop".

WTC-2.JPGReunion Photos - Wayne CrochetDo you see an "odd man out" here? No? Well, neither do I.

Maj Jerry Orr hosted our reunion.

WTC-5.JPGReunion Photos - Wayne CrochetWayne found another "old buddy"...a mechanical one, at least. This is the old FADAC computer; the artillery's first attempt to computerize the Fire Direction Center (FDC). However, even in 2013, they are using 60s-era firing charts complete with RDP out in the field.

WTC-6.JPGReunion Photos - Wayne CrochetThe "Dining Facility" has replaced the "mess hall" and YOU WILL eat healthy foods, soldier!!! AND...you can have anything to drink as long as it's water. Our active duty host, LTC Marcus Jones stands in front of a color-coded menu.

WTC-7.JPGReunion Photos - Wayne CrochetDo you see another "odd man out"? Well, his red shirt kinda stands out a bit. Wayne mingles with the gun crew at the field firing demo. Wayne refers to this shot as "An Old XO with a new M777 gun".

WTC-8.JPGReunion Photos - Wayne CrochetThat ol' gang of mine...our redleg vets pose for a photo just after the retirement ceremony. We probably thought the ceremony was for us.
