Charles
Phelps Skidmore, Jr, 77, of Burkburnett, peacefully passed away Friday, March
29, 2024 at Hospice of Wichita Falls. He was born in Monahans, Texas on
September 24, 1946 to Charles Skidmore Sr. and Bertha Joy (Allen) Skidmore.
Charles
was a 1965 graduate of Burkburnett High School. He attended college in
Denton for two years and was drafted into the United States Army in February
1968. After basic training he was sent to Vietnam where he served from
July 1968 to July 1969. He later went to work for Ciba-Geigy and retiring,
what was then Ameron, in 1998 after 28 years of service. Charles then went
to work for Magic Air in 1999 and retired in 2013.
Charles
loved going to the lake and spending time with friends and family. He
loved to dance and loved going places he had never visited.
He
was preceded in death by his mother and father in 1969.
He
is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Carolyn Skidmore; his sons, Cameron
Skidmore, Chris McDonald and wife Michelle, and Max McDonald and wife Jennie;
his grandchildren, Dylan, Blade, Alyssa, Landon, and Kaylee; four
great-grandchildren; and many cousins and dear friends that were like family.
The
family would like to thank Hospice of Wichita Falls and Healing Hands Home
Healthcare for all their love and care given to Charles, especially Melanie and
Amanda, many thanks to you two. Special thanks to Dr.’s Hanes, Reddy, A.
Patel, and Palmer for all their care given through the years.
The
family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Owens
& Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett.
