SGT JOHN J. SEVERN, SR

John Samuel Severn Sr.1946 - 2021
September 13, 1946 - December 18, 2021

Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather made his way home to be with our Lord, Almighty God in December 2021.

Born in the state of Washington, he lived much of his life in Nebraska. He was the son of a preacher and he himself lived a life committed to God. He was a Vietnam Vet (served with the 2/9th Field Artillery) with a 1,000 yard stare that could intimidate Clint Eastwood.

John was an NCO in the US Army, serving honorably in the 4th Infantry Division where he mobilized to Camp Enari and was awarded an Army Commendation Medal and a Purple Heart. His calm, steely demeanor which helped identify his status as a combat veteran was known second only to his humor & his quick quips that could make anyone laugh at a moment's notice.

He enjoyed sports, traveling, 60's music, fishing and telling his stories, of which there are many. He is survived by Margie, his wife of 48 years, two sons John, Jr and Joshua, two grandchildren and his sister Alvera with many beloved nieces and nephews. Interment service will be held on 3pm, February 11, 2022 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
