Herbert
McKinley "Herb" Ables Jr., 68, of Millstadt, Ill., died Wednesday,
July 8, 2015, at his residence.
Herb was a Vietnam veteran, a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad for 23 years,
a Mason, a volunteer fireman for the Millstadt Fire Department, a marshal at
Triple Lakes Golf Course, an usher at the Fox Theater and a courier for Standard
Rule Promotions.
Herb loved to fish, golf and loved to spend time with his grandkids. To know
Herb was to love Herb and everyone that met him, loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert M. Ables Sr., and Doris Ables;
father-in-law and mother-in-law, William H. and Grace Jones; and his nephew,
John Ables.
Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Liana K., nee Jones, Ables; his son,
Trevor (Tina) Anglim; daughters, Tracy (Mike) McCollum, and Justine (Chris)
Lanciault; his grandchildren, Tony (Molli) Lee, Tyler and Trey Anglim, Calahan
and Maxwell McCollum, Kaitlynn, Amanda and McKinley Lanciault; great-grandson,
Madden Lee; his brother, John "Skip" (Mary) Ables; sisters, Linda
Ables and Stacy (Tim) Williams; brother-in-law, Bill (Terri) Jones;
sister-in-law, Jo-Ellen (Robbie) Horman; dear friend, Jan Rule; and all of his
Stillpointe family; and his wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to John Cochran VA Medical Center or
Five Pillars of Stillpointe.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015, at
Stillpointe Wellness Center, 2135 Dorothy Dr., Belleville, Ill., 62223. A
celebration of Herb's life will follow.
