TRIBUTE TO SSG FRANK VENEGAS:
I met Sgt Venegas in March, 1966 at Ft Bliss, TX.  He was a Drill Sergeant of the highest caliber, professional at all times and dedicated to his men.  I was the Unit Training Officer for C-2-3 of the BCT Brigade at Ft Bliss in Logan Heights.  I could not ask for any more support or respect from SSG Venegas.  I left C-2-3 in July, 1966 on a elongated trip to Vietnam, arriving in November, 1966.  You cannot imagine my surprise when in walks SSG Venegas into my "A" Battery and becomes my "Chief Of Smoke" some time in 1967.  I was extremely delighted to have this most reliable soldier as a key component of the leadership of "A" Battery.

Some years later, while performing Reserve Duty Training at Ft Sill, I happened to see CSM Venegas' name on a large sign listing the III Corps Artillery Commanding General with his name directly below.

Clearly, SSG Venegas achieved his military potential with such a high level assignment at Ft Sill.
